A big night from Philly’s Big Three gave the Sixers a comfortable win over the Wizards.
The Washington Wizards gave their best effort in Game 3 of the NBA 2K20 Simulation Showcase on Monday, but they just couldn’t keep up with the Philadelphia 76ers. A big first quarter and even bigger nights from Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, and Ben Simmons were all the Sixers needed to cruise to a 114-97 victory at Wells Fargo Center.
The game began with Philly reeling off a 33-19 first quarter, led by 11 points from Harris and nine from Alec Burks. Washington spent the remainder of the game trying to play catch-up. The Wizards won the second quarter 29-23 to make a 56-48 game at half, and they narrowly lost the latter three quarters 78-81. But ultimately, the Sixers’ surge in the first was too insurmountable for the Wizards to conquer.
Harris and Embiid finished the night with matching 25-point, 12-rebound, 2-assist performances. Harris completed his feat in 36 minutes of play and also had a steal, while Embiid logged his output in 32 minutes and also swatted four blocks.
Not to be too outdone, Simmons had 20 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. This makes this the first game of the showcase where a team has three players score at least 20 points. Josh Richardson added 14 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Burks never scored again after the first quarter, and also had three assists and two rebounds.
Bradley Beal paced Washington with 22 points, six assists, three steals, and two rebounds. Shabazz Napier followed up with 16 points and eight assists. Davis Bertans also had 16 points along with four rebounds and a steal. However, Bertans, a notorious sharpshooter (42.4 percent from 3-point range on 8.7 attempts per game), racked up his total by going 6-of-11 on 2-pointers, 1-of-1 from 3-point range, and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. Rookie forward Rui Hachimura also added 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
